With a strongly contemporary sensibility and a respect for the historical significance of their home our client approached our firm with a need for an expanded floor plan accommodating an eat-in kitchen, attached garage, and a master bedroom suite.  The addition to this load-bearing masonry Arts and Crafts residence set at the rear of the home utilizes the kitchen as a space for living and for entertaining.  Perched above the kitchen connecting the first floor to the second floor master suite is a loft space that acts as both a sitting room for the bedroom and as a platform for the display of the client’s large collection of contemporary art.
